ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the incidence of pain flare (PF) in spine metastasis stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) or hypofractionated radiotherapy (HF) and the prophylactical effect of dexamethasone. Methods Sixty-five patients were treated with spine metastasis SBRT and randomly divided into control group (SBRT or HF, n=32) and treatment group (SBRT or HF and 4.5 mg dexamethasone, n=33). The brief pain inventory (BPI) was used to score the pain before, during and after treatment. PF was recorded and compared between two groups. Results The incidence of PF was 24.6% in all patients (control group: 37.5%, treatment group: 12.1%, P=0.018). PF in both group occurred in d1-2, accounting for 62.5% in all PF (control group: 66.7%, treatment group: 50%, P=0.551). The incidences of PF in control group were 66.7% and 33.3% for three and ten fractions scheme, respectively (P=0.001). However, the incidences of PF in treatment group were 50% and 50% for three and ten fractions scheme, respectively (P=0.643). Conclusion Oral dexamethasone has an excellent efficacy in prevention and treatment of PF in spine metastasis SBRT or HF, with significantly decreased incidence of PF. A phase Ⅲ clinical trial is required to finalize the optimal dose and schedule.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the short-term efficacy of individualized motion control training for the patients with physiological sacroiliac joint dysfunction. Methods 58 patients were diagnosed as sacroiliac joint dysfunction by standing and sitting stoop test and single leg test. All the patients were randomly divided into two groups. Rotation of the iliac bone was adjusted by muscle energy technique and impact technique in all the patients. The study group received additional exercise control training including local muscle drafting, flexibility and stability. The short-term efficacy was observed. Results VAS and ODI in the two groups were improved significantly after treatment, and there was significant difference between the two groups before treatment(P < 0.01). Three weeks after treatment, the VAS score and ODI in the control group increased, while those in the study group did not change significantly. There was a significant difference in the continuous efficacy of treatment between the two groups(P < 0.05). Conclusions Motion control training based on manipulative exercise test evaluation has a better continuous efficacy for patients with no-specific low back pain and sacroiliac joint dysfunction. It is worth clinically popularizing.

ABSTRACT

Objective To reveal the characteristics of cancer incidence in subjects of routine physical examination in Huhehot, and provide a rehable basis for cancer prevention and health guidance. Methods The medical data of cancer incidence were analyzed in the first affiliated hospital of Inner Mongolia medical from September 2009 to September 2011.Results A total of 113 patients with malignant tumors were found, with the detection rate of 1.3%.The incidence of lung cancer was the highest (33.6%),followed by the incidence of Thyroid cancer (14.2%).Conclusion Routine medical examination is helpful to detect early stage malignant tumors. The thyroid should be detected as a priority one in the physical examination;the elderly should be checked as important crowd.
